Head of Maintenance

Covering properties across the South of the UK

£65,000 per year + company van

Full-time | Permanent | Monday to Friday (Flexitime) | Weekend availability

We are seeking an experienced and versatile Head of Maintenance to take responsibility for the ongoing upkeep of a portfolio of high-quality properties located across the South of England.

This is a hands-on role that requires broad maintenance expertise, strong initiative, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. The ideal candidate will be mechanically skilled, confident using a wide range of tools, and capable of diagnosing and resolving maintenance issues effectively — calling in specialists when necessary.

A solid understanding of outdoor maintenance and general gardening is also essential, as is a flexible, proactive approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs across all sites, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting/decorating, and basic mechanical fixes
  • Carry out preventative and scheduled maintenance tasks (indoors and outdoors)
  • Maintain outdoor spaces — mowing, pruning, weeding, planting, hedge trimming, and clearing paths
  • Diagnose issues, resolve them promptly, and escalate or bring in specialists when required
  • Ensure all maintenance work is completed to a high standard and within deadlines
  • Work closely with internal teams and external contractors to coordinate ongoing works

✅ Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven hands-on experience in maintenance, with skills across carpentry, plumbing, basic electrics, decorating, and general repairs
  • Practical gardening experience (1 year+ preferred)
  • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, manage time independently, and take ownership of responsibilities
  • Clear and confident communication skills
  • Team-oriented with a can-do attitude

Driving & Transport:

  • Valid UK driving licence (required)
  • Comfortable driving vans across multiple sites
  • Willingness to assist with collections, deliveries, and vehicle loading/unloading as needed

Location:

Work will be based in person across various sites primarily between sites in both Surrey and London.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday: 9:00am – 6:00pm
  • Flexitime available
  • Some weekend availability may be required
