Head of Retail

ISSEY MIYAKE is seeking a retail leader to guide our established UK business through its next stage of development.

This is a pivotal role within the organisation — leading our stores with clarity, integrity and commercial focus, while contributing to the continued evolution of our retail direction.

We are open to candidates already operating at Head of Retail level, as well as exceptional senior retail managers ready to step into a broader leadership remit. Title and scope will reflect experience.

The Role

You will take ownership of retail performance across our stores, ensuring that each space reflects the creativity, precision and humanity at the heart of ISSEY MIYAKE.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will:

  • Lead and develop store teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and care
  • Drive sustainable sales growth and monitor performance across key metrics
  • Champion meaningful client relationships and elevate our approach to clienteling
  • Ensure operational clarity and consistency across all locations
  • Recruit and nurture talent aligned with our values
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure retail is fully aligned with brand and business priorities

As the business evolves, there will be opportunity for this role to expand in strategic scope.

About You

You bring strong commercial judgement and a deep understanding of premium or luxury retail.

You:

  • Have a proven record of delivering sales growth across multiple locations
  • Lead by example and feel at home on the shop floor and in an office environment
  • Develop confident, motivated and inclusive teams
  • Balance analytical rigour with brand sensitivity
  • Communicate with clarity and build trusted relationships across functions
