Health And Safety Advisor

8 Days Old

Job Description

Are you a hands-on Health & Safety professional looking for a role where you can genuinely shape and improve safety standards on a growing pharmaceutical manufacturing site?

Our client is an innovative organisation operating in a regulated pharmaceutical environment. They’re seeking a proactive Health & Safety Advisor to strengthen and continually improve its onsite SHE systems.

This is a practical, operational role suited to someone who enjoys being visible on the shop floor, embedding safe systems of work, and driving positive safety behaviours.

The Role

As the Health & Safety Advisor, you will support the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of a specialist manufacturing facility. You’ll be responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining Safety, Health, and Environmental systems across the site.

This is not a people management role; instead, you will take full ownership of SHE processes and deliver improvements directly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide competent H&S advice, maintain the site SHE management system, identify risks, track legislative changes, and support incident investigations.
  • Create and maintain Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, Permit to Work arrangements, and LOTO procedures. Support safe management of maintenance, utilities, plant rooms, and contractor activities.
  • Participate in SHE inspections and audits, manage action tracking, support statutory compliance (fire safety, pressure systems, LEV, electrical), and assist during external audits or regulatory visits.
  • Produce and maintain SHE procedures, templates, registers, and controlled documentation. Ensure all records comply with Good Documentation Practice.
  • Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings. Provide practical guidance to staff and contractors and promote a positive safety culture.
  • Support contractor onboarding, RAMS review, Permits to Work, inductions, and onsite compliance monitoring. Ensure safe close-out of contractor activities.

About you

Essential

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Experience in a Health & Safety advisory role
  • Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation
  • Proven ability to produce risk assessments, COSHH, SSOW, PTW and LOTO systems
  • Experience supporting contractor safety
  • Strong communication skills and a practical, hands-on approach
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively

Desirable

  • Experience in manufacturing, engineering, pharmaceutical or regulated environments
  • Familiarity with GMP
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or working towards)
  • IOSH membership
  • Experience with audits and document-controlled systems
