HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic

£17.00 £20.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Full-Time | 48 Hours per Week | Monday to Friday (Weekend Work Required)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a skilled and motivatedHGV Technicianto join our busy workshop team in Astley.

We are looking for a qualified HGV Mechanic to work on our own fleet of vehicles and trailers. A Class 1 (C+E) licence would be ideal, but this is not essential for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repair company vehicles and trailers safely and efficiently in line with current regulations

  • Carry out mandatory VOSA inspections and MOT preparation

  • Fault diagnosis and repair

  • Strip, fit, and replace components as required

  • Complete all paperwork accurately and ensure deadlines are met

  • Maintain high housekeeping standards in line with Health & Safety requirements

  • Use appropriate PPE at all times

  • Communicate effectively with the Transport Manager

  • Be flexible with shift patterns where required

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years experience as an HGV Technician (preferred)

  • C+E entitlement (Class 1) preferred but not essential

  • Experience with Scania and Volvo vehicles preferred

  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills to complete documentation

  • Self-motivated with the ability to use initiative

  • Full driving licence preferred
