Job Description

We’re looking for a Host / Hostess who understands how much the tone of a room is set at the door. Someone calm, observant and genuinely warm, who can hold a busy service with ease while making every guest feel personally welcomed.

You’ll be responsible for the flow of the restaurant from arrival to departure; managing reservations, guiding guests through the space, and working closely with the floor and kitchen teams to ensure the evening unfolds naturally.

This is a role for someone who enjoys people, notices detail, and takes pride in creating an atmosphere guests want to return to.

The Role

You will be the first and last point of contact for our guests, setting the standard for hospitality at Caia. From managing reservations and guest communications to supporting events and larger group bookings, you’ll play a central role in how the restaurant feels and functions.

Alongside core hosting responsibilities, you’ll support service flow wherever needed — always with a view to keeping the room calm, organised and welcoming.

Above all, we’re looking for someone who brings their personality to the role: warm, thoughtful, confident, and genuinely interested in food and hospitality.

Guest Experience

  • Act as the primary point of contact for guests, delivering warm, professional and personal hosting.
  • Lead by example at the door, ensuring first impressions reflect Caia’s tone and values.
  • Handle guest communications and feedback with care and discretion.
  • Identify opportunities to elevate the guest experience and encourage repeat visits.
  • Take note of guest preferences to help deliver thoughtful, tailored experiences.

Reservations & Booking Management

  • Manage reservations across SevenRooms and The Fork, including maintaining accurate guest profiles, access rules and tags.
  • Optimise seating plans to balance guest comfort with smooth service flow.
  • Handle group bookings and build relationships with regular and corporate guests.
  • Monitor covers and pacing throughout service, adjusting where needed.
  • Identify and resolve any issues affecting reservations or guest flow.

Events & Group Bookings

  • Manage and convert private dining and event enquiries, working closely with internal teams.
  • Support the planning and execution of events to ensure they run seamlessly.
  • Maintain clear records of events and provide feedback on performance and outcomes.
  • Keep an eye on the wider hospitality landscape, noting ideas and best practices.

Team & Service Flow

  • Communicate clearly with front- and back-of-house teams to support a smooth service.
  • Maintain high standards of presentation, professionalism and compliance.
  • Contribute positively to team culture, supporting development and collaboration.

Operational Standards

  • Keep guest databases and reservation records accurate and up to date.
  • Review the guest journey and suggest improvements where appropriate.
  • Assist with reporting on covers, feedback and performance when required.

Additional FOH Responsibilities

  • Welcome and farewell guests warmly, making each interaction feel genuine.
  • Assist with emails, phone calls, cloakroom and guiding guests through the space.
  • Pace seating thoughtfully to avoid overcrowding.
  • Maintain a tidy, composed reception area at all times.
  • Complete daily checklists and tasks as required.
  • Support other areas of service when needed, without losing focus on the door.

About you

  • A genuine passion for food, hospitality and hosting people well.
  • Confident, warm communicator with a natural, personable manner.
  • Comfortable using Sevenrooms.
  • Calm under pressure, with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Professional presentation and pride in your work.
  • Confident with written and verbal communication.
  • Curious, positive, and keen to grow within a hospitality team.
