The Department of Economics is seeking an experienced HR professional to join our small, collaborative team of three (including the HR Manager). This is a refill post in a varied and busy environment, supporting the Department's research and teaching activities.
Reporting to the HR Manager, you will play a key role in delivering a wide range of HR services across the full employee life cycle - from attracting and onboarding new talent to advising staff and managers, supporting development, managing change, and contributing to strategic HR projects. You will also have the opportunity to support HR casework, promote equality, diversity, and inclusion, and drive continuous improvement across HR services.

You will have proven experience in a busy HR environment, ideally in higher education, with CIPD qualification or working towards Level 5 (or equivalent experience). Strong knowledge of UK employment law, visa regulations, payroll processes, and HR systems is essential, as are excellent organisational, communication, and customer service skills. The ability to work with minimal supervision while managing competing deadlines is key.
