Lead Maintenance Engineer (M&E)LondonPareto FMFull-Time | Monday FridayOn-Call: Yes (1 in 8 rota, post-probation)£200 weekly standby allowance + overtime ratesWere looking for an experienced and proactive Lead Maintenance Engineer to take ownership of maintenance delivery across a key client site.This is a hands-on leadership role where youll be responsible for ensuring all mechanical and electrical systems are maintained safely, efficiently, and in full compliance while supporting and developing a small on-site engineering team.If youre technically strong, confident leading others, and thrive in a structured but fast-paced environment, this is an excellent opportunity to step into a senior engineering position.The RoleYoull lead the day-to-day delivery of planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring all building services are operating safely and effectively.Working closely with the Contract Manager and on-site team, you will take responsibility for technical standards, compliance, and operational performance.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across M&E systemsLead and oversee maintenance of all building services plant and equipmentSupervise subcontractors and review works to ensure compliance with RAMS and standardsComplete and manage simPRO tasks, ensuring photographic evidence and accurate recordsMaintain statutory compliance records, logbooks and technical documentationSupport and ensure completion of statutory planned maintenance programmesMonitor and maintain optimal environmental conditions via HVAC systemsRespond to BMS alarms and first-line diagnosticsCarry out fault finding and reactive repairs across mechanical and electrical systemsIdentify and escalate health & safety risks and plant reliability issuesOversee plant operations including start-up, shutdown, changeover and optimisationConduct regular site walk-rounds to ensure safety, cleanliness and operational performanceAct as the key technical point of contact for the client and internal teamsSupport small installation and repair works where requiredEnsure all works are completed safely and within compliance standardsMaintain strong communication with management, reporting progress and issuesSupport and mentor junior engineers on siteParticipate in an on-call rota (1 in 8, post probation) with £200 weekly standbyTeam Structure & SupportYou will lead a team of 2 on-site engineers plus on-site contract supportReporting directly to the Line Manager / Contract ManagerSupported by wider Pareto FM engineering and operations teamsStrong emphasis on collaboration, knowledge sharing and team developmentSkills & ExperienceFully qualified in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Level 2/3 or equivalent)Strong experience within Building Services / M&E maintenanceProven experience as a Lead Engineer or senior technical roleStrong understanding of building compliance and statutory maintenance18th Edition (if electrically biased)IOSH Working Safely (desirable)IPAF / PASMA (essential)Strong fault-finding experience across:BoilersHVAC systemsPumpsGeneratorsSwitchgearLighting & small powerWater systems and associated plantKnowledge of BMS systems and controlsExperience with ACOP L8 water systems (desirable)About YouConfident leading a small engineering teamStrong communicator with a professional approachAble to manage workload in critical and time-sensitive environmentsCustomer-focused and solutions-drivenHighly organised with strong attention to compliance and safetyAble to work independently and take full ownership of site performanceOn-Call & OvertimeOn-call rota: 1 in 8 (post 6-month probation)Weekly standby allowance: £200Overtime available as requiredProgression & TrainingWe are committed to developing our engineers.
