Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training. Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.
A specialist all-through academy in Camden is seeking a dedicated and resilient Learning Support Practitioner to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a supportive and well-resourced environment, helping pupils aged 5–16 who are currently outside of mainstream education to re-engage with learning.
The school provides a nurturing, structured setting focused on building resilience, confidence, and academic progress, supported by experienced staff and excellent facilities.
The Role
This is a varied and dynamic position where you will work across EYFS to Key Stage 4, supporting students both 1:1 and in small groups. You will play a key role in managing behaviour, supporting emotional regulation, and helping students reintegrate into structured learning environments.
Flexibility is essential, as you may work with different age groups depending on daily needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs
• Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour effectively
• Support students’ academic engagement and emotional development
• Act as a positive role model and mentor
• Assist in reintegrating students into structured learning
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams
Requirements
• Experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH
• Background in PRUs, alternative provisions, SEN schools, youth work, or similar settings
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
• Confident supporting a range of age groups (KS1–KS4)
• Calm, resilient, and adaptable approach
• Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential
