Location: Partington, Manchester
Salary: £13.51 per hour
Overtime: £19.77 per hour (after completion of 40 hours)
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Sunday to Thursday, 22:00 06:30
(Includes 20 minutes paid break and 30 minutes unpaid break)
About the Role:
We are seeking a Maintenance Assistant to work night shifts, supporting the existing Maintenance Technician to ensure the smooth and continuous operation of the plant.
This is a development role and an ideal opportunity for someone with the right aptitude, strong work ethic, and a genuine interest in progressing within a technical or engineering environment. You will work closely with experienced engineers, assisting with both planned and reactive maintenance activities across the site.
Full training will be provided, and while maintenance experience is not essential, candidates with a mechanical or engineering background will be at an advantage.
Main Responsibilities:
Supporting Maintenance Engineers across all areas of plant maintenance
Assisting with scheduled and preventative maintenance
Supporting breakdowns and unscheduled maintenance activities
Cleaning of equipment and plant machinery
General maintenance tasks as directed by Operations Shift Managers and Engineers
Assisting with baler operations where required
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
A strong work ethic and a hands-on approach
Experience working in a busy manufacturing or recycling environment
Exposure to recycling equipment such as conveyors, motors, and related machinery
Knowledge and practical understanding of Health & Safety procedures
A pragmatic and logical approach to work tasks
The ability to take direction and communicate effectively at all levels
Flexibility and reliability
A high level of physical fitness, as the role involves working at height and in confined spaces
Qualifications:
NVQ Level 1 and/or Level 2 in a mechanical, engineering, or related discipline would be beneficial but is not essential
This role is well suited to someone looking to build a long-term career in maintenance and engineering within an industrial or recycling environment, working a permanent night shift.
