Job Title: Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias)
Location: Banbury, Oxfordshire
Salary: £54,904 + Overtime (1.5x)
Contract: Initial 3-Month Contract (Strong Potential for Permanent Position)
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off (Days & Nights)

Overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an electrically biased Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established food manufacturing operation based in Banbury. The position is initially offered as a 3-month contract to provide cover for long-term absence, with a strong likelihood of transitioning into a permanent role.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of production machinery and site equipment within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a range of manufacturing and packaging machinery.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Minimise production downtime through efficient fault finding and repair.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and reliability.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Work closely with production teams to ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently.
  • Adhere to all health & safety, food safety, and site compliance standards.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.

Requirements

  • Electrically biased maintenance background within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Recognised electrical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • Experience with fault finding on automated production equipment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems including motors, sensors, drives, and control systems.
  • Basic mechanical maintenance skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, shift-based environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.

Desirable

  • Experience within food manufacturing or FMCG environments.
  • Knowledge of PLC fault finding and automated production lines.
