Scroll down for a complete overview of what this job will require Are you the right candidate for this opportunity Location: Banbury, Oxfordshire Salary: £54,904 + Overtime (1.5x) Contract: Initial 3-Month Contract (Strong Potential for Permanent Position) Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off (Days & Nights) Overview An excellent opportunity has arisen for an electrically biased Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established food manufacturing operation based in Banbury. The position is initially offered as a 3-month contract to provide cover for long-term absence, with a strong likelihood of transitioning into a permanent role. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of production machinery and site equipment within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a range of manufacturing and packaging machinery. Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical faults. Minimise production downtime through efficient fault finding and repair. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and reliability. Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation. Work closely with production teams to ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently. Adhere to all health & safety, food safety, and site compliance standards. Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues. Requirements Electrically biased maintenance background within a manufacturing or production environment. Recognised electrical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent). Experience with fault finding on automated production equipment. Strong understanding of electrical systems including motors, sensors, drives, and control systems. Basic mechanical maintenance skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, shift-based environment. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance. Desirable Experience within food manufacturing or FMCG environments. Knowledge of PLC fault finding and automated production lines. Benefits Competitive salary of £55,000. Overtime rate.
