Job Summary:

We are seeking a hands-on and proactive Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our warehouse facility. This role is critical to ensuring efficient inventory control, accurate and timely customer shipments, a secure site, and full compliance with health and safety standards. A valid forklift licence is essential.

This role is a key part of our senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

Warehouse Operations:

• Manage day-to-day warehouse activities including goods-in, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch.
• Ensure accurate and timely shipment of goods to meet customer expectations.
• Maintain an efficient warehouse layout to optimise workflow and space utilisation.

Stock Control:

• Maintain accurate stock levels, including cycle counts and regular stocktakes.
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
• Support continuous improvement of stock management processes.

Health & Safety:

• Ensure compliance with all H&S regulations and company safety policies.
• Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits.
• Promote a safe working culture and lead by example.

Site Security:

• Act as key holder with responsibility for site opening and closing procedures.
• Ensure the security of premises, stock, and company assets.
• Monitor site access and report any security issues.

Forklift Operations:

• Operate forklifts safely and efficiently.
• Maintain forklift and material handling equipment in accordance with safety standards.

Team Leadership:

• Supervise warehouse staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
• Provide training, support, and clear direction to the team.
• Support recruitment and development of warehouse personnel.

The successful candidate will:

• Lead and maintain ISO accreditation processes (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO14001), ensuring continuous compliance and quality management improvements
• Ensure UK compliance with NHS Evergreen and Cyber Essentials requirements
• Play a key role in shaping company procedures and operational best practices

Requirements:

• Proven experience in warehouse management or supervision
• Valid forklift licence (counterbalance and/or reach)
• Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, logistics, and stock control
• Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and site security protocols
• Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
• IT literacy, including familiarity with warehouse or ERP systems
• Must be local to Tunbridge Wells to support alarm call-outs and opening/closing

Desirable:

• Experience managing or working alongside customer service teams
• Familiarity with ISO standards, particularly ISO 9001
• First Aid or Fire Marshal certification
• Degree educated
