Planning Engineer

Our client, a respected player within the engineering sector, is seeking an experienced Planning Engineer to support ongoing growth and operational excellence. The Opportunity as Planning Engineer:

Take ownership of manufacturing process planning, supporting both new product introduction and existing product optimisation.
Produce and manage comprehensive manufacturing documentation, including process instructions and routing details.
Establish accurate set-up and cycle times to support production efficiency.
Work alongside procurement to define tooling, materials, and inspection requirements.
Generate machining time estimates using appropriate calculations and technical data.
Trial, validate, and refine new production methods, working both autonomously and as part of a wider team.
Continuously review and enhance processes to drive improvements in productivity and quality.
Provide guidance on product compliance and relevant standards.
Act as a liaison for engineering-related customer enquiries and technical discussions.
Create supporting technical visuals and process layouts using CAD tools such as Catia.
Participate in contract and technical reviews to ensure feasibility and alignment.
Contribute to APQP and PPAP activities, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately.
Support export-related processes, ensuring regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with the Quality function to address non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
Ensure all manufacturing activities align with customer specifications and industry standards.

Skills and experienced required as Planning Engineer:

Educated in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering (HNC, BTEC, or similar qualification advantageous).

Solid hands-on experience within machining and production engineering environments.
A mindset geared towards continuous improvement, with the confidence to challenge existing methods.
Experience designing and developing production fixtures and tooling.
Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
Proven ability to enhance manufacturing processes and operational performance.
Broad understanding of machining techniques and specialised manufacturing processes.
Familiarity with export compliance requirements.
Experience within the aerospace sector would be beneficial.
