At WSP, the Mining and Minerals business employs a Principal / Senior Process Engineer to support engineering studies and engineering for small to large‑scale mineral processing plant projects in a multi‑disciplinary environment. Role The successful candidate will provide Process Engineering Services on mineral processing projects for WSP and its clients, including technical support and supervision within the Process Engineering Team. Responsibilities
Provide Process Engineering Services on mineral processing projects, including technical support and supervision within the Process Engineering Team. Work in process areas such as crushing and grinding, materials handling (feeders and screens), physical and chemical separation techniques, hydrometallurgy, leaching, precipitation, solid‑liquid separation, and solid and liquid waste handling (tailings). Develop metallurgical circuit design and selection, conduct test‑work to select circuit configuration and size major equipment. Prepare engineering documentation: process design basis, process flow diagrams, mass balance, P&IDs, sizing of process equipment, process calculations, specifications, hazard assessment and control philosophy.
Qualifications
Degree in mineral processing, chemical engineering, mineral engineering, civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or engineering geology (postgraduate qualification desirable). Strong understanding of ground behaviour, soil and rock mechanics, and geotechnical risk management. Experience in some or all of the specified process areas. Experience managing complex projects and leading multi‑disciplinary teams. Excellent communication skills and willingness to travel within the UK and internationally.
