Principal / Senior Process Engineer - Mining UK

Role Overview The WSP Mining, and Minerals business is looking to employ a Principal / Senior Process Engineer with sector‑specific transferable skills to support engineering studies and design for small to large‑scale mineral processing plant projects in a multi‑discipline environment. A degree in mineral processing, chemical engineering or mineral engineering is required. It is expected that the person will have a wide range of mineral and metals commodity experience, typically including the treatment of iron ore, coal, base metals, precious metals and industrial minerals. Responsibilities
Provide process engineering services on mineral processing projects to WSP and its clients, including technical support and supervision within the process engineering team. Work in the following process areas: crushing and grinding; materials handling including feeders and screens; physical and chemical separation techniques; hydrometallurgy; leaching, precipitation and solid‑liquid separation; solid and liquid waste handling including tailings. Develop metallurgical circuit design and selection based on testwork to specify circuit configuration and size of major equipment. Prepare necessary engineering documentation including process design basis, process flow diagrams, mass balance, P&IDs, sizing of process equipment, process calculations, specifications, hazard assessment and control philosophy.
Qualifications
Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Engineering Geology (postgraduate qualification desirable). Strong understanding of ground behaviour, soil and rock mechanics, and geotechnical risk management. Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and lead multi‑disciplinary teams. Excellent communication skills and willingness to travel within the UK and internationally.
