Head of Property and Facilities - in reality a Property Services Manager

London | Hybrid (3 days in office)

My client, a well-established military charity, is seeking a Head of Property and Facilities to lead the day-to-day management and assurance of its property portfolio, supporting beneficiaries across the UK.

This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced property professional who enjoys balancing operational delivery, compliance, and professional judgement, within a small, collaborative team.

The Role

Reporting to a senior director, you will provide professional oversight of the charity’s property and facilities portfolio, ensuring properties are safe, compliant, well maintained, and cost-effective.

Key responsibilities include:

*

Overseeing the charity’s property portfolio, including maintenance planning, cost control, quality assurance, and statutory compliance

*

Developing and delivering annual maintenance plans and budgets

*

Advising on the application of property, landlord, and health & safety legislation

*

Procuring and managing external surveyors, contractors, and service providers

*

Acting as a professional point of escalation for property-related issues and queries

*

Working closely with operational teams to ensure beneficiaries are appropriately supported

*

Providing clear, professional advice and reporting to senior stakeholders as required

*

Managing a small property team and coordinating external resources

This role is not a corporate estates director position; it is a senior operational leadership role with meaningful responsibility and visibility.

About You

You are likely to have:

*

Significant experience in property management, estates, facilities, or housing

*

Strong working knowledge of statutory compliance, health & safety, and building maintenance

*

Experience managing contractors, consultants, and service contracts

*

Confidence advising senior stakeholders on property matters

*

A practical, organised, and solutions-focused approach

Professional membership (e.g. RICS, Propertymark or equivalent) and health & safety qualifications are desirable but not essential if you bring strong relevant experience.

Why Apply?

*

Senior, respected role within a mission-driven military charity

*

Broad exposure across property, facilities, compliance, and stakeholder engagement

*

Sensible scope, supportive leadership, and realistic expectations

*

Hybrid working and strong organisational values
