QHSE & Technical Compliance Manager
Trafford Park, Manchester (Travel to Atworth site as required) Up to £50,000 per annum (DOE)  Monday to Friday | 40 hours per week
The Role
Our client,  an industry renowned bodybuilding (coachbuilders) company is seeking an experienced QHSE & Technical Compliance Manager to join their team
This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring the highest standards of Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental compliance, and Technical Governance across operations, supporting regulatory compliance and industry best practice in vehicle bodybuilding and conversions.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee QHSE policies, procedures, and compliance across all operations
Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and drive positive change
Ensure vehicle bodybuilding and modifications meet Type Approval (IVA, VCA, DVSA) and industry regulations
Conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections to maintain workplace safety and environmental compliance
Develop and implement Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) to support continuous improvement
Lead investigations into non-conformance, incidents, and near misses, ensuring corrective and preventative actions
Maintain Body Builder programmes within dealership networks
Manage and control the Quality Management System (QMS)
Ensure compliance with COSHH, PUWER, and LOLER requirements
Monitor NCRs and customer feedback
Ensure build documentation and technical specifications are accurate and available
Provide technical guidance on vehicle construction standards, materials, and regulatory compliance
Deliver QHSE training to staff, embedding a strong safety culture
Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and suppliers to maintain certifications and compliance
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
✔ Proven experience in a QHSE and compliance role within vehicle bodybuilding, automotive, or engineering environments ✔ Strong understanding of Type Approval, IVA, VCA, and relevant industry standards ✔ NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent Health & Safety qualification (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 knowledge desirable) ✔ Working knowledge of fabrication, welding, and vehicle construction processes ✔ Ability to lead a safety-first culture and implement meaningful compliance improvements ✔ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive risk management approach ✔ Excellent communication skills, with confidence liaising with regulatory bodies, suppliers, and internal teams
