I am working in partnership with a leading civil engineering and groundworks contractor to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor for a major, long-term construction project based in Bridgwater, Somerset. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute QS to join a well-established subcontractor working on a high-profile infrastructure scheme. The Role: This is a site-based position, where you’ll take a hands-on role in managing the commercial aspects of civils packages – including groundworks, drainage, roads, and reinforced concrete structures. You’ll work closely with site teams and senior management to ensure financial control and commercial success. Key Responsibilities: * Management of subcontractor packages and valuations * Cost reporting and budget tracking * Site measurement and valuation of works completed * Preparation and negotiation of variations * Supporting the preparation of interim and final accounts * Working under NEC or similar contract frameworks The Ideal Candidate: * Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civils or groundworks subcontracting * Strong understanding of construction contracts (NEC ) * Commercially driven with excellent attention to detail * Able to work autonomously in a site-based role * Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management What’s on Offer: * Competitive base salary (DOE) * Car allowance or company vehicle * Generous holiday entitlement * Pension contribution * Opportunity to work on a flagship project with long-term prospects Location: This is a full-time site-based role in Bridgwater, Somerset.
