Pastoral Support Worker – SEMH School (Bolton)

Are you passionate about supporting young people who face barriers to learning? Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Pastoral Support Worker to join a specialist Secondary SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in the Bolton area. Pupils may present with a range of complex needs, including ADHD, anxiety, trauma-related behaviours, attachment difficulties, oppositional or defiant behaviours, low self-esteem, emotional regulation difficulties, and challenging social circumstances. This is a rewarding opportunity to help students develop resilience, confidence and positive routines.
Key Responsibilities
As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting pupils’ wellbeing, behaviour, and engagement. Responsibilities include:
Providing 1:1 or small-group pastoral support to pupils with SEMH needs Supporting pupils with behaviour regulation, emotional literacy and positive coping strategies De-escalating challenging situations using trauma-informed approaches Building strong, trusting relationships to encourage attendance and participation Supporting pupils with personal development, social skills and confidence Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams, SENCOs and external agencies Monitoring pupil wellbeing and contributing to behaviour plans or support strategies Supporting transitions, reint...
