SEMH Teaching Assistant \n Location: Tower Hamlets\n Contract: Full-time, Long-term\n Start date: January 2026\n\nA welcoming and supportive primary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis from January. This role involves providing 1:1 support for a child with significant SEND and behavioural needs.\n\nThe Role\n\nIn this SEMH Teaching Assistant role you will be primarily supporting a Year 3 pupil who is currently at risk of exclusion and requires constant supervision. The child is attending school on a reduced timetable and is currently being supported by the Senior Leadership Team and SENDCo.

You will play a key role in taking over this support and helping the school develop a consistent, structured plan for the pupil’s progress.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nProvide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with complex SEMH and SEND needs.\nWork flexibly across the school, including within the ASD provision when the pupil is not in class.\nSupport students across all key stages as needed to access learning, engage with activities, and integrate alongside their peers.\nUse a proactive, hands-on approach to behaviour support and emotional regulation.The school is looking for SEMH Teaching Assistant who has the following:\n\nPrevious experience working with children with SEMH or complex SEND needs (essential).\nThe ability to build positive, trusting relationships quickly.\nBe confident, resilient, and calm under pressure.\nA Flexible approach and be willing to support across different key stages depending on need.\nA passion for inclusion and a commitment to helping children overcome barriers to learning.The School \n\nThis inclusive 3-form entry primary school offers a vibrant, modern learning environment with plenty of specialised indoor and outdoor spaces and a dedicated provision to support students with autism.
