We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Primary School Teacher to join our team, working with children who have a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Sensory Processing Issues, and Non-Verbal Communication. Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the diverse learning needs of students with SEND.
Provide targeted support for students with learning disabilities, ensuring a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Adapt teaching strategies to support students with non-verbal communication and sensory needs, using appropriate resources and tools.
Collaborate closely with the SENCO and support staff to implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Create a safe and nurturing environment where students feel valued, understood, and empowered to learn.
Effectively manage and support challenging behaviors using appropriate interventions and restorative practices.
Track and report on the progress of students, adjusting teaching methods as required to help them achieve their potential.
The Ideal Candidate:
PGCE with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) is essential.
Experience in teaching children with SEMH, Autism, Sensory Needs, and Learning Disabilities.
Knowledge of SEND strategies to support students with varying emotional, social, and learning needs.
A patient, empathetic approach and a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment.
Ability to adapt lessons and activities to suit the individual needs of each child.
Experience using alternative communication methods (e.g. PECS, Makaton) is highly desirable.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with colleagues and families.
