A supportive and community-focused SEN school in Lambeth is seeking a skilled and resilient SEN Teacher to join their team, teaching a KS2 Year 3 class. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a well-established Lambeth provision supporting pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and complex behaviour.
A paid one-week induction and handover will be provided, enabling you to build relationships with pupils and staff, understand individual needs, and ensure a smooth and consistent transition into the role within this Lambeth setting.
The SEN Teacher Role (KS2 - Year 3)
As an SEN Teacher, you will deliver highly personalised, structured learning to a small class of Year 3 pupils with SLD and complex behavioural needs. The role requires a consistent, therapeutic approach, with a strong focus on communication, emotional regulation, and engagement.
You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure all strategies are aligned and responsive to each pupil's individual profile.
Key Responsibilities (SEN Focus):
Plan and deliver highly differentiated, sensory-informed lessons aligned to KS2 (Year 3) outcomes
Use structured teaching approaches, visual supports, and repetition to support pupils with SLD
Apply consistent behaviour support strategies, including de-escalation and proactive planning
Understand and respond to the underlying needs behind complex behaviours
Adapt the learning environment to support sensory regulation and reduce triggers
Promote engagement through motivating, accessible, and developmentally appropriate activities
Support communication development using simplified language, visuals, and alternative methods where appropriate
Build strong, trusting relationships through consistency, patience, and clear boundaries
About the School
This inclusive SEN school caters for pupils aged 4-19 with a range of complex needs. The school offers small class sizes, a therapeutic and structured approach, and a strong emphasis on individualised learning and behaviour support.
Essential SEN Skills & Experience:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience teaching KS2 pupils, ideally Year 3, within an SEN or specialist setting
Strong understanding of Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and complex behaviour
Experience using positive behaviour support and trauma-informed approaches
Knowledge of sensory processing needs and how they impact behaviour and learning
Ability to remain calm, consistent, and reflective when supporting pupils with high levels of needReeson Education:
