Salary: £16–£17 per hour
Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial SEN experience and/or relevant training such a recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.

About the Role:

We are recruiting in partnership with a friendly and supportive primary school in Barnet for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a Year 4 pupil with ADHD.

This role focuses on morning support (approximately 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM). The pupil has made progress but still spends time outside the classroom and can be impulsive, requiring a calm, resilient, and consistent approach.

The focus is on building a strong relationship rather than academic progress. The pupil enjoys hands-on activities such as puzzles and building tasks.

You will be supported by experienced staff and inclusion advisors, within a warm, family-oriented school environment.

Requirements:

To be eligible for this role, applicants must have:

• Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs, particularly ADHD
• Strong behaviour management skills and resilience
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils

Relevant SEN qualifications are preferred.

• Be able to set clear boundaries while maintaining a supportive approach
• Be proactive, consistent, and adaptable
Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 support for a Year 4 pupil with ADHD
• Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil
• Support behaviour regulation and emotional development
• Deliver engaging, hands-on activities suited to the pupil’s interests
• Work closely with staff and external professionals to support the pupil’s needs
