Salary: £90–£100 per day
Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial ASD/ADHD experience and/or relevant training such a recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.

About the Role:

We are recruiting in partnership with a busy and friendly primary school in Barnet for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support two Year 3 pupils on a 1:1 basis.

This full-time, temporary role involves supporting one pupil in the morning and another in the afternoon.

In the morning, you will support a non-verbal pupil with ASD and ADHD who is transitioning from a specialist setting. The pupil can display challenging behaviours, and the school is beginning to introduce an iPad to support communication. Good progress has already been made with consistent support.

In the afternoon, you will work with a pupil with ADHD who is bright and capable but requires regular movement breaks and a structured approach. A calm, “firm but fair” attitude and strong emotional intelligence are essential.

A handover period is possible, and you will be joining a supportive, diverse school community with high expectations for all pupils.

Requirements:

To be eligible for this role, applicants must have:

Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs, particularly ASD and ADHD
Confidence working 1:1 with pupils with a range of needs and behaviours
Strong behaviour management skills
Ability to support communication strategies (experience with non-verbal pupils is highly desirable)

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 support to two Year 3 pupils with ASD and ADHD
• Support communication strategies, including the use of visual aids and technology (e.g. iPad)
• Manage and respond effectively to challenging behaviours
• Implement structured routines and provide regular movement breaks where needed
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support individual learning plans
• Promote pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
• Ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
