Role Summary - Senior AI Engineer
Aubay UK is seeking a highly skilled and versatile Senior AI Engineer for our leading oil and gas client. The Senior AI Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying advanced AI and machine-learning solutions for enterprise-level clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mathematics or computer science and a proven track record of delivering innovative AI capabilities across diverse industries. This role requires both strategic and hands-on technical expertise, with the ability to operate autonomously, evaluate trade-offs, recommend optimal approaches, and own the end-to-end development of impactful AI solutions. The engineer will work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, providing thought leadership in cutting-edge AI technologies, including deep learning, graph neural networks, generative AI, and retrievalaugmented system.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related STEM field.
- More than five years of advanced data science / AI engineering experience in industry.
- Proven experience delivering full-cycle AI software and deploying production-ready solutions.
- Strong proficiency in Python and core AI/data science libraries, such as:
- PyTorch, TensorFlow, ScikitLearn, Keras, NumPy, Pandas
- PyTorch Geometric, JAX, XGBoost, OpenCV
- Transformers, LangChain, Pinecone
- Hands-on experience with cloud computing systems for training, optimising, and deploying models.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide strategic architectural guidance.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Experience in reliability, corrosion, WRFM (well and reservoir facility management), process engineering, or advanced sensing technologies.
- Exposure to downstream customer platforms and trading ERP systems.
- Experience with platforms such as Azure ML Studio, Foundry, and Databricks Mosaic.
- Familiarity with NLP, LLM deployment, Agentic AI frameworks (MCP, A2A, N8N), and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end development and delivery of AI and machine learning solutions for enterprise clients.
- Apply advanced AI methods, including deep learning, ML, GNNs, object detection, sensor fusion, vector embeddings, RAG, and generative AI models.
- Architect scalable AI systems capable of independent learning and continuous evolution.
- Provide strategic input on AI architectures, model deployment, and cloud-based scaling strategies.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to build AI-driven systems that enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Develop solutions that autonomously analyse data and generate actionable insights.
- Act as a thought leader on state-of-the-art AI technologies, including large language models and generative AI innovations.
