Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Senior Consultant – Facilities Management (Engineering-led | Hard FM | Consultancy) (Full Time)
Location: London-based client sites (majority of time in London) with occasional home working with optional access to our Adderbury office
Reports to: Director of Operations
Package: Competitive salary, pension, 28 days holiday, flexible working and clear progression within a growing consultancy
ABOUT LCMB
LCMB is a specialist building performance consultancy advising high-profile organisations on estates strategy, FM transformation, net zero delivery and major capital programmes. We are growing our senior consultancy capability and are seeking an engineering-led FM professional who can demonstrate a clear, applied understanding of Hard FM, Soft FM and integrated service delivery, and use that knowledge to shape strategy, guide implementation and grow key client accounts. The initial focus of the role will be complex, high-profile London estates, working across large, multi-building environments with critical engineering infrastructure, with the opportunity to support wider commissions as the role develops. This is a consultancy position. You will act as the client’s adviser rather than running day-to-day operations, but you must understand how services perform in live environments and how to improve them.
THE ROLE
You will act as the client’s trusted adviser and technical authority on Hard FM, setting the strategic direction for FM services and turning that into practical, deliverable change across live environments while identifying where LCMB can add further value.
Your work will include:
· Engineering, asset and lifecycle strategy for complex estates
· Soft FM strategy and service integration aligned to asset, engineering and workplace outcomes
· Statutory compliance and assurance
· FM operating model design
· Procurement and contract strategy
· Service performance, risk and value for money
· Mobilisation and transformation programmes
Alongside delivery, you will lead account development and convert opportunities into secured commissions.
What you will be doing:
· Leading FM and engineering advisory commissions for complex estates
· Advising on the structure, packaging and management of integrated FM services
· Establishing compliance, asset and performance baselines
· Reviewing outsourced, in-house and hybrid delivery models
· Developing phased implementation plans
· Identifying opportunities to improve engineering performance, cost efficiency and user outcomes
· Supporting procurement and service mobilisation
· Building trusted, long-term client relationships at senior level
· Identifying opportunities for further support and converting these into commissions
· Contributing to proposals, scope definition and development
ABOUT YOU
You will be able to demonstrate:
· Applied understanding of Hard FM and building services in operational environments
· How Soft FM services interact with technical delivery and user outcomes
· Knowledge of UK statutory compliance and FM market practice
· Experience improving service performance, not just administering contracts
· The ability to move between strategic advice and operational reality
· Credibility with technical teams and senior stakeholders
· Commercial awareness and the confidence to discuss scope, value and outcomes with clients
· Experience advising clients or acting as the informed client on behalf of FM service providers
· A consultancy mindset and an interest in developing business
Relevant degree or equivalent experience expected. Professional membership or chartered status is advantageous.
WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT
You will be working alongside senior client teams, helping them make decisions that shape how their estates operate for the long term.
You will have the space to think strategically, the expectation to stay close to operational reality and the opportunity to see your advice implemented in live environments. Your work will influence investment plans, service models and risk position – not just performance reports.
You will also play a visible part in growing key accounts. The relationships you build and the value you create will directly lead to new opportunities for both you and the business.
