Role Description Senior Content Designer. Salary: £45,000 per annum. Location: Remote, must be based in the UK. Contract: Permanent, 35 hours per week. 29 days annual leave PLUS bank holidays, with up to 5 additional days for 5 years continuous service and option to buy or sell leave. About Parent Talk Parent Talk is Action for Children’s digital parenting support service. It provides practical, evidence‑based information, advice and one‑to‑one support for parents and carers, covering topics from everyday parenting challenges to highly sensitive and complex issues. The service is shaped closely with frontline practitioners and parent coaches, and content is continuously tested and improved using insight, feedback and real parent needs. Content design at Action for Children is about designing content that genuinely works for people. It combines user research, clear language, accessibility and iteration to make complex or sensitive information understandable, usable and supportive. Content design goes beyond writing. You’ll shape whole content journeys, set standards, influence ways of working and help teams across the charity produce content that meets user needs and organisational goals. Working with Sensitive Content The subject matter covered by Parent Talk can be complex, personal and sensitive. You’ll regularly pair‑write with parent coaches and so this role requires listening, care, judgement and professionalism when shaping content together. How You'll Help to Create Brighter Futures Develop, own and oversee the content strategy, governance, style guidance and roadmap for Parent Talk. Lead the content development process with the Parent Talk team, parent coaches and subject matter experts. Work with the product manager to plan and deliver user research with parents to ensure content meets real needs and supports a positive user experience. Develop and lead the approach to accessibility and inclusion for a diverse parenting audience. Use research, analytics and feedback to evaluate and continuously improve content. Line manage, and support content designers, providing clear direction, feedback and development. Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across Media, Policy, Children’s Services and Digital. Champion content design best practice across Action for Children, helping teams understand how good content improves outcomes for children, young people and families. Let's Talk About You You’ll have demonstrable experience working in content design at a senior level, or a recognised content design qualification alongside substantial practical experience. You’ll also bring:
Strong experience working with subject matter experts and turning their knowledge into clear, useful content. Experience leading content strategy, governance and delivery at scale. Previous line management experience and confidence supporting others’ development. Experience using user research, analytics and insight to evaluate and improve content. Experience training or coaching colleagues in content design principles and ways of working. Confidence owning content quality and making decisions in a complex organisation.
