Senior Data Engineer

£600 per day Outside IR35

6 Month Contract


A VC-backed life sciences software company is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to architect and deliver the core data layer powering its next-generation modelling and simulation platform.


The business is scaling fast, building a unified environment that combines mechanistic models, AI and workflow automation into one platform. You will take a hands-on role across the full data stack, making architectural decisions that directly shape how the platform grows, working closely with engineering, product and ML teams.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver scalable, self-healing data pipelines from ingestion through to consumption
  • Architect and implement graph models and ontologies at the core of the data layer
  • Own semantic data modelling and dimensional design
  • Make and own architectural decisions across the full stack in close collaboration with engineering, product and ML


Skills & Key Requirements:

  • End-to-end data platform architecture and delivery
  • Hands-on with Python and Azure (low-code and full stack)
  • Semantic data modelling, ontology design and graph databases
  • Workflow automation and AI-adjacent data structures
  • Scientific or pharmaceutical data environments desirable, not essential


Contract Details:

  • Day Rate: Competitive, open to discussion
  • IR35: TBC
  • Contract Length: TBC
  • Location: Hybrid, Liverpool Street, London
  • Start Date: ASAP
