Senior Data Engineer – Insurance & London Market

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help shape the future of data platforms across the Insurance and London Market. This is a high-impact role designing and delivering scalable, cloud-native data solutions powering underwriting, pricing, claims, and reinsurance analytics.

You will build and optimise modern data pipelines using Python, PySpark, Databricks and/or Snowflake, working within a medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) to deliver trusted, well-governed data products across the organisation.

Please note: Proven, hands-on experience within the Insurance domain is an absolute must-have for this role. Candidates without direct insurance experience (e.g. underwriting, claims, policy, reinsurance, or actuarial data) will not be considered.

This role requires strong domain knowledge of the London Market ecosystem, including Lloyd’s Syndicates, Delegated Authority (Coverholders/TPAs), Reinsurance, and Ceded Reinsurance, along with the ability to translate complex insurance processes into robust data engineering solutions.

You’ll also take a leading role in engineering governance and delivery excellence, including CI/CD, code reviews, architecture standards, and mentoring engineers across teams. Strong stakeholder engagement is key, working closely with underwriting, actuarial, finance, and data leadership teams.

We are also embracing AI-assisted engineering, using tools like OpenAI and Claude to accelerate development, improve code quality, and enhance documentation—while maintaining strong governance and compliance standards.

Tech Stack: Python, PySpark, Snowflake/Databricks, Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), CI/CD, modern data architecture.
