Environmental Project Manager At WSP, you will lead environmental projects across the UK’s most prestigious infrastructure projects, shaping a cleaner future. Responsibilities
Provide strategic direction and oversee the successful delivery of environmental projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with sustainability and climate resilience objectives. Motivate and empower multi‑disciplinary teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and high performance. Engage proactively with senior clients and stakeholders, co‑creating solutions and cultivating long‑term trusted partnerships. Manage contract delivery effectively, utilising project controls and contract management systems to oversee change, programme milestones, commercial outcomes and risk mitigation strategies. Develop and implement robust risk and change management approaches to ensure project resilience and achievement of business goals. Promote innovation and best practices, integrating sustainability, safety and digital tools into all aspects of project delivery. Support business growth by contributing to high‑quality bids and proposals that secure future opportunities and expand our impact.
Qualifications & Experience
Leadership in delivering standalone environmental projects and managing key environmental workstreams within large, multi‑disciplinary programmes. Track record of successfully delivering complex environmental components as part of major infrastructure projects. Practical experience with NEC4 PSC contracts (particularly Options A and E). Proven ability to build effective relationships and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and with senior stakeholders. Understanding of environmental consenting and the associated planning regime. Possession of or working towards project management qualifications, notably APM PMQ. Robust project management skills, including programme management (critical path, dependencies and milestones), commercial acumen, financial oversight and budget management, change management, health, safety and quality management and leadership.
