A leading international (re)insurance organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its specialist legal function on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. This is a high‑impact, hands‑on role supporting complex international underwriting activity and working closely with senior stakeholders. The Role You will act as a trusted legal adviser to underwriting and business teams, with responsibilities including:
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex risk‑transfer and related commercial agreements Providing clear, pragmatic coverage and contractual advice Handling sensitive sanctions and regulatory queries in partnership with Compliance Contributing to standard forms, playbooks and template suites across the function Tracking legal and market developments and translating insights into business‑ready guidance Delivering concise, targeted training and supporting legal best‑practice initiatives
What We’re Looking For
Solid background in insurance or reinsurance law, gained in‑house or in private practice Strong experience with coverage/wording analysis and complex negotiations Confidence engaging directly with senior commercial stakeholders Familiarity with sanctions and broader regulatory risk Excellent written and verbal communication, sound judgement and the ability to work autonomously
