Senior People Partner - Cambridge, MA
We are here to advance human health, by reimagining drug discovery with the power of artificial intelligence.
The future is coming. A future enabled and enriched by the incredible power of machine learning. A future in which diseases are curtailed or cured by better and faster drug discovery.
Our values exist in service of that future. We think they’ll help us bring it closer, too.
Come and be part of an interdisciplinary team driving groundbreaking innovation and play a meaningful role in contributing towards us achieving our ambitious goals, while being a part of an inspiring and collaborative culture.
The world we want tomorrow is the one we’re building today. It starts with the culture at this company. It starts with you.
About Iso
Isomorphic Labs (IsoLabs) was founded in 2021 and is led by Sir Demis Hassabis. Our aim is to usher in a new era of biomedical breakthroughs and find cures for some of humanity’s devastating diseases.
Our foundations are built on the success of Google DeepMind’s AlphaFold, but we didn’t stop there! We are continuing to develop and implement state-of-the-art technologies as we move towards our goal of dramatically accelerating and improving the process of designing and bringing new medicines to patients.
We have built a world-leading drug design engine comprising foundational AI models that are capable of working across multiple therapeutic areas and drug modalities. The company is continually innovating on model architecture and developing cutting-edge capabilities to advance rational drug design.
Your Impact
This is a career-defining opportunity for a pioneering and highly collaborative Senior People Partner to be the first on the ground in our new Cambridge Massachusetts hub. You will be the strategic partner to our newly appointed Chief Medical Officer, with the mission to build a world-class, high-performing team. You’ll contribute to the overarching people strategy and will be responsible for its implementation and success within this location.
This is a high-impact, foundational role, where you will be instrumental in building and scaling our Cambridge operations. You will be the champion of our employee experience, creating a competitive advantage through the quality of our people and the strength of our culture. As a key member of a highly collaborative and dynamic global People & Talent team, you work with a wider team of experts to champion the entire employee lifecycle, from talent acquisition and onboarding to leadership development and total rewards, all of which will drive our groundbreaking and transformative work.
We’re looking for a trusted advisor for our leadership and a data-driven thought leader, who can take a hands-on approach to build a thriving, engaged, and inclusive organisation. If you are ready to build something exceptional, this is your moment!
What You Will Do
- Be the first point of contact for People related work in Cambridge: In close partnership with our London-based Head of People Partnering and Cambridge leadership (including the CMO), you will translate global business strategy into a localized and impactful people plan. You will build and scale the Cambridge People function from the ground up, in line with existing People frameworks and practices.
- Champion a thriving culture: As the primary driver of our culture and values in Cambridge, you will proactively build trusted relationships at all levels. You’ll work cross-functionally to cultivate an environment of high engagement, and exceptional performance.
- Strategic and hands-on leadership: You will drive forward all people-related matters in Cambridge. This includes coaching and advising managers on team development and driving performance outcomes, as well as expertly navigating all employment matters and ensuring legal and compliance standards are met.
- Build and scale for success: Partnering with our People and Talent teams, you will help attract exceptional talent and contribute to the development of market specific, world class programs for onboarding, learning, retention, and recognition.
- Data-Driven decision making: By sharing key market insights and learnings, you will inform our global people strategy and drive a culture of continuous improvement.
- Global collaboration, local expertise: While operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will be the bridge between our Cambridge hub and the global organisation. You will mentor and guide the growing team, share on-the-ground insights to shape global programs, and manage relationships with third-party vendors to ensure seamless operational delivery.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strategic Partnership in a High-Growth Setting: Significant experience as a People Partner or HR generalist, ideally within a fast-paced startup, scale-up, or technology-driven environment.
- Proven "Builder" Experience: Direct experience building and scaling a People function or leading the HR workstream for launching a new office, region, or business unit.
- Extensive Coaching and Advisory Experience: Ability to influence and challenge senior leaders and managers in a dynamic and evolving environment.
- Expertise in US Employment Law: Deep knowledge of US federal and state employment laws (Massachusetts experience is a major asset), with the ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical and effective solutions.
- Organisational Design & Change Management: Proven capabilities in consulting with leaders on organisational design, change management, and team effectiveness.
- Relationship Building: An exceptional communicator and collaborator with a proven ability to build trust and credibility at all levels of an organisation.
- Business Acumen: A strong commercial mindset with the ability to connect People initiatives directly to business objectives.
- Data led: Exceptional attention to detail in all aspects of analysis, reporting and execution.
- Hands on and strategic: You are equally comfortable operating at a strategic level and diving into the operational details; you thrive in a dynamic environment and understand that, in a scaling team, everyone needs to be hands-on
- Industry experience in AI, tech, life sciences, or pharma is a significant advantage.
- Experience operating within a complex, global organisation.
- Formal training or deep practical experience with various coaching frameworks to support a diverse workforce in a high-growth environment.
We are guided by our shared values. It's not about finding people who think and act in the same way. These values help to guide our work and will continue to strengthen it.
Thoughtful
Thoughtful at Iso is about curiosity, creativity and care. It is about good people doing good, rigorous and future-making science every single day.
Brave
Brave at Iso is about fearlessness, but it’s also about initiative and integrity. The scale of the challenge demands nothing less.
Determined
Determined at Iso is the way we pursue our goal. It’s a confidence in our hypothesis, as well as the urgency and agility needed to deliver on it. Because disease won’t wait, so neither should we.
Together
Together at Iso is about connection, collaboration across fields and catalytic relationships. It’s knowing that transformation is a group project, and remembering that what we’re doing will have a real impact on real people everywhere.
Creating An Extraordinary Company
We believe that to be successful we need a team with a range of skills and talents. We're building an environment where collaboration is fundamental, learning is shared and every employee feels supported and able to thrive. We value unique experiences, knowledge, backgrounds, and perspectives, and harness these qualities to create extraordinary impact.
We are committed to equal employment opportunities regardless of sex, race, religion or belief, ethnic or national origin, disability, age, citizenship, marital, domestic or civil partnership status, sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy or related condition (including breastfeeding) or any other basis protected by applicable law. If you have a disability or additional need that requires accommodation, please do not hesitate to let us know.
Hybrid working
It’s hugely important for us to share knowledge and build strong relationships with each other, and we find it easier to do this if we spend time together in person. This is why we follow a hybrid model, and would require you to be able to come into the office 3 days a week (currently Tuesday, Wednesday, and one other day depending on which team you’re in). If you have additional needs that would prevent you from following this hybrid approach, we’d be happy to talk through these if you’re selected for an initial screening call.
Please note that when you submit an application, your data will be processed in line with our privacy policy.
