Senior Python Engineer

Location: Hybrid (London-based office – 2 days per week)

Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 + 10% bonus

Overview

We’re looking for a Senior Python Engineer to join a growing digital team working on exciting projects in the automotive industry. The company is part of a large global group and is focused on building modern tech solutions that improve the customer experience and help retailers deliver great service.

What you’ll be doing

• Designing, developing and scaling backend systems built primarily in Python
• Leading technical decisions around architecture, tooling and best practices
• Mentoring engineers and contributing to raising engineering standards across the team
• Collaborating closely with Product, Design and Commercial teams to shape solutions
• Driving improvements in performance, reliability and automation
• Reviewing code, improving processes and helping embed modern engineering practices
• Contributing to a culture of continuous learning within an Agile environment

What we’re looking for

• Extensive commercial experience building production-grade backend systems in Python
• Strong understanding of system architecture, distributed systems and API design
• Solid experience with modern cloud environments (AWS preferred)
• Good knowledge of containerisation, CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code
• Strong database skills (PostgreSQL or similar)
• Comfortable leading technical discussions and guiding engineering decisions
• A proactive problem-solver who enjoys collaborating and sharing knowledge
• Clear communicator able to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
