Due to the award of a major 5-year framework, a leading civil engineering contractor is looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team in Exeter.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within the water and utilities sector, delivering high-value capital works projects, including pumping stations, major diversions, and water mains renewals.

Key Responsibilities Senior Quantity Surveyor
  • Manage a portfolio of projects valued at approximately £20M
  • Provide commercial leadership and support to junior Quantity Surveyors
  • Offer contractual advice to operational and delivery teams
  • Administer and manage NEC contracts
  • Review, appoint, and manage subcontractors and supply chain partners
  • Raise and manage subcontracts in line with governance procedures
  • Monitor project costs, variations, and change control
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities to maximise project value
  • Carry out subcontract valuations and authorise payments
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure accurate cost and data reporting
Senior Quantity Surveyor Requirements
  • HNC / Degree (BSc) in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
  • Minimum 5+ years experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or utilities
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts
  • Experience working for a main contractor or subcontractor
  • Proven track record of managing infrastructure or water sector projects
  • Strong commercial awareness and stakeholder management skills
