Fourth & Church is a restaurant in Hove specialising in innovative small and sharing plates alongside wines from small producers. We have been placed in Brightons top 20 best restaurants for the last 3 years and look forward to gaining more accolades. We have a ever expanding programme of curing, pickling and preserving meats, fish and vegetables as well as sourcing goods from artisan producers. We draw on influences from around Europe, North Africa and the Levant with an emphasis on building deep flavours. We use modern and traditional techniques to highlight quality ingredients in our dishes.


Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role located in Hove for a Sous Chef. The Sous Chef will assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, including menu planning, food preparation, cooking, and plating. Responsibilities include maintaining kitchen hygiene, training junior staff, and ensuring consistent quality and presentation of dishes. The Sous Chef will also manage inventory, order supplies, and collaborate with the team to create seasonal and innovative dishes.


Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment
  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and dishes from various global traditions
  • Skills in menu planning, food preparation, cooking, and plating
  • Ability to maintain kitchen hygiene and safety standards
  • Experience in training and managing junior kitchen staff
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage inventory and order supplies
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Passion for using seasonal and local produce
  • Culinary school diploma or equivalent experience
