Role Description
Technical Manager
Company: Tuk In Foods Manufacturing
Location: Multi-site (2 production facilities)
Reporting to: Operations Director / Managing Director
Role Purpose
The Technical Manager is responsible for leading and maintaining all food safety, quality, legality and compliance systems across Tuk In Foods Manufacturing. This role ensures that all products manufactured across both sites meet BRCGS, legal and customer standards while supporting business growth, innovation and continuous improvement.
The role spans high care and low care environments and includes oversight of New Product Development (NPD), raw materials, supplier approval, audits, complaints and factory hygiene systems.
Key ResponsibilitiesFood Safety & Quality Systems
Own and maintain the BRCGS Food Safety Management System for both sites
Ensure full compliance with:
BRCGS
UK Food Law
Customer codes of practice
HACCP & allergen management
Lead and maintain the HACCP system, ensuring it remains robust, validated and up to date
Manage site risk assessments for high care and low care areas, including zoning, segregation and controls
Audit & Compliance
Lead all BRC audits, customer audits and regulatory inspections
Maintain audit readiness across both sites at all times
Manage non-conformances, root cause analysis and corrective actions
Ensure traceability, mass balance and product recall systems are fully tested and effective
Technical Leadership
Lead and develop the Technical / QA Team across both sites
Provide daily technical support to Production, Engineering and NPD
Act as the technical authority for food safety decisions
Build a strong food safety culture throughout the business
NPD & Product Approval
Oversee technical approval of new products, recipes, ingredients and suppliers
Ensure all new products meet:
Legal labelling requirements
Customer specifications
Food safety and allergen controls
Lead shelf-life validation and challenge testing where required
Supplier & Raw Material Assurance
Manage supplier approval and monitoring
Ensure all raw materials meet Tuk In Foods’ food safety and quality standards
Review supplier audits, specifications and risk ratings
High Care & Low Care Control
Maintain robust segregation, hygiene and environmental monitoring programs
Ensure correct controls for:
Pathogen management
Cleaning validation
Personal hygiene
Zoning & flow
Lead investigations and corrective actions where issues arise
Complaints, Incidents & Continuous Improvement
Lead all customer complaints and quality incidents
Carry out root cause analysis and implement preventive actions
Drive continuous improvement in:
Food safety
Quality standards
Factory hygiene
Documentation and reporting
Key Performance Measures
BRC audit results and grading
Customer complaint levels
Audit non-conformance closure
Food safety KPIs
Recall and traceability performance
Skills & Experience RequiredEssential
Proven experience as a Technical Manager or Senior Technical Leader in food manufacturing
Strong knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP and UK food law
Experience working in high care / high risk food environments
Experience managing audits and customer standards
Confident leading cross-site technical operations
Desirable
Experience with chilled or ready-to-eat foods
NPD technical approval experience
Degree or equivalent in Food Science, Microbiology or related discipline
