Job Title:Town Planner \nLocation: Manchester\nContract Type: Full-Time, Permanent\nSalary: £30,000-£38,000\nExperience: 2+ years consultancy experience \n\nAbout the Role\nIn this key role, you'll:\n\nProvide expert advice to clients on planning strategies, policies, and processes\nManage and prepare planning submissions including applications, appeals, and amendments\nConduct thorough site research, policy reviews, and coordinate with clients and partners\nRepresent clients at site visits, planning meetings, hearings, and inquiries\nOversee junior staff and contribute to the overall operational and strategic performance\nPromote the business through client engagement, networking, and digital channels\nSupport the development of new business opportunities and maintain lasting client relationshipsKey Responsibilities:\n\nManage submissions to local planning authorities and other statutory bodies\nTrack progress and negotiations in line with project objectives\nPresent and defend planning proposals at committees and public events\nWork independently and within a team to deliver high-quality outputs\nAssist in instructing legal professionals for public inquiries or similar proceedings\nMaintain accurate records and ensure compliance with professional standards\nSupport and supervise Assistant Planners and Administrators where requiredWhat We're Looking For\nQualifications & Experience:\n\nDegree in a planning-related discipline\nPostgraduate qualification in Planning\nChartered Membership of the RTPI or RICS (Planning & Development)\nStrong understanding of the English planning system; knowledge of Scottish, Welsh, and Northern Irish systems desirable\nPractical experience with planning law, policy, and emerging practices\nAwareness of design, construction, and land development processes\nProficient IT skills and use of planning-related digital toolsKey Competencies:\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities\nTime management and ability to prioritise under pressure\nSkilled in negotiation and making commercially sound decisions\nAble to read and interpret technical plans and drawings\nProfessional, reliable, and calm under pressure\nCommitted to maintaining professional development and company standards\nWhy Join Us?\nWe offer a collaborative, supportive environment where your expertise and ideas are valued.
