Catastrophe Business Partner - Contract

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinates, develops and delivers the team delivery of all quoting/rollup/analytics for the allocated classes of business, assigning tasks across their team as necessary.
  • Representative in strategic and planning conversations for relevant classes of business.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Divisional Underwriters to assist and support new underwriting opportunities and products.
  • Maintain an excellent relationship with the outsourcing business partners to enable successful delivery of service across allocated classes including training and supporting queries for complex accounts. Responsibility for liaising with the Underwriting teams for planning the resources required to deliver cleansing/modelling support.
  • Co-ordinates, develops and delivers training for the clients users on Exposure Management processes, tools and outputs, establishing new approaches to enhance the clients view of risk whilst working alongside peers to ensure consistency.
  • Role Model within the team, contributing to helping develop the capabilities of others through teamwork. Lead discussions on continuous improvement, automation and development of new tools and processes to support the business.
  • Review and validate modelled output that can be used in all required internal and external regulatory submissions including but not limited to RDS, LCM, Aggregate Monitoring, Outwards RI submissions, ERM Reporting, GAREAT/LFB reporting.
  • Assist with data preparations for submission to reinsurers and brokers as required for Outwards Reinsurance.
  • Lead on Exposure Management related projects to support the team and the use of catastrophe modelled output within the client.


Skills and Experience:

  • Expert knowledge of using third party catastrophe modelling and exposure management tools (AIR/RMS/Impact/Exact). Ideally across Nat Cat direct insurance classes. Proven track record of managing different classes of business.
  • Undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field (e.g., natural science, business, maths, geography) or relevant work experience in a similar role.
  • Expert knowledge of using functions within Microsoft Excel.
  • Innovative thinker to participate and contribute to wider business unit opportunities in order to keep the client at the forefront as models and tools continue to evolve.
  • Highly analytical, with ability to process and understand data quickly and creatively.
  • Excellent knowledge of technical coding including SQL, R or VBA.
  • Experience of using and developing solutions via PowerBI is desirable.
  • Experience of working with and managing tasks with offshore business partners.
  • Excellent business communication skills including the ability to communicate technical concepts to range of audiences, and creative thinking to solve complex issues as they arise.
