Salary: £42,754 – Opportunity for overtime and shift allowance applicable

Requirements: Time serviced Modern Apprenticeship (trade papers required) and ability to attend a trade test in Newtown Acyliffe

Job Description:

You’ll play a key role in delivering advanced weapon systems, contributing to the full build lifecycle of high-performance products used across land and naval platforms. Working with precision tools and specialised techniques such as titanium welding, you’ll support the manufacture of complex components, ensuring quality, safety and performance standards are consistently met.

You’ll collaborate closely with quality, engineering and manufacturing teams, supporting continuous improvement and safe working practices. This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative defence projects, develop specialist skills and grow within a newly established, expanding team shaping the future of weapon systems capability.

Core duties:

  • Performing precision titanium welding across multiple product types, delivering high-quality components to specification
  • Contributing to build activities, completing tasks in line with programme requirements and approved processes
  • Conducting self-inspections to ensure work meets strict quality, safety and engineering standards
  • Carrying out daily checks on tools and equipment, maintaining safe and reliable working conditions
  • Supporting safety requirements, reporting hazards and contributing to continuous improvement within the assembly area

Essential Skills:

  • Holds recognised engineering qualifications, including a full apprenticeship, with practical experience in technical manufacturing environments
  • Demonstrates advanced welding capability with titanium and stainless steel, maintaining cleanliness and quality standards
  • Demonstrable ability to pass weld tests across multiple joint types and positions, meeting required certifications
  • Considerable understanding of welding procedures, manufacturing instructions and safe use of tools and equipment
  • Experience using workshop tooling and purging systems, working in line with safety and HAVS regulations

The Weapon Systems Team:

Working on advanced defence programmes, this growing function designs, manufactures and supports multi-layered weapon systems across land and naval platforms.
