Role Details:

  1. We are seeking a Commissioning Manager to support the successful delivery of a major infrastructure and equipment programme.
  2. This role acts as the key interface between project delivery teams and the end-user organisation, ensuring commissioning activities are effectively coordinated, compliant with operational and regulatory requirements, and aligned with organisational governance.
  3. The successful candidate will play a critical role in preparing newly delivered infrastructure and equipment for operational use by ensuring commissioning activities are properly authorised, coordinated, and integrated with operational stakeholders.
  4. During the design phases this role will ensure all systems and equipment are designed to meet operational requirements, site safety management arrangements, regulatory and customer requirements. The CM will collaborate with the design teams, contractors and stakeholders to integrate commissioning requirements into the design, ensuring a smooth transition into the construction, commissioning and handover phases.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate commissioning activities in line with the end-user organisation’s governance and approval processes.
  • Act as the primary liaison between delivery teams and operational stakeholders during commissioning.
  • Ensure commissioning activities are conducted in accordance with regulatory, safety, and operational requirements.
  • Ensure that Lifetime Records for commissioning activities are suitable, sufficient and correct.
  • Facilitate commissioning readiness reviews and ensure appropriate operational approvals are in place.
  • Support programme planning by integrating commissioning milestones into delivery schedules.
  • Ensure newly commissioned assets are properly recorded and compliant with the organisation’s asset management systems.
  • Identify and manage risks related to commissioning, operational readiness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide commissioning status updates to programme leadership and governance bodies
  • Support procurement activities by advising on commissioning-related technical specifications.

Key Requirements:

Essential

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a technical role, with proven experience as a Commissioning Manager (or similar role).
  • Experience of working in a nuclear regulated environment (Licensed and/or Authorised), with detailed knowledge of the associated commissioning requirements including risk management and quality assurance.
  • Ability to both interpret and produce technical documentation including drawings, reports, plans, specifications, etc.
  • Confident communicator in both written and face-to-face environments. Comfortable working both within a team, and autonomously as required.
  • Organised approach to ensure deadlines are established, monitored and achieved across the full team contributing.

Desirable

  • Chartership with a relevant professional engineering body
  • Knowledge of project engineering standards and operating procedures.
  • Understanding of engineering lifecycle.
