Job Description

HR Business Partner – Financial Services

My client is an elite international Buy side organisation based in the City of London. They have a need for an HR Business Partner to join their team and report into the Head of HR Operations.

The role sits within a collaborative and progressive HR function and plays a key part in delivering people initiatives aligned to business growth

The Role

As an HR Business Partner, you will provide high-quality HR advisory and operational support initially to the IT client group. You will work closely with managers and HR colleagues across the business. The role covers the full employee lifecycle and combines day-to-day advisory work with involvement in wider HR projects and initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as a trusted HR adviser, providing guidance in line with policy, best practice, and employment legislation
  • Supporting performance management processes, including objective setting, reviews, and development planning
  • Managing end-to-end recruitment processes, advising hiring managers and overseeing agency relationships
  • Handling employee relations matters, including performance, conduct, grievance, absence, and family leave cases
  • Supporting reward processes, HR projects, and continuous improvement of HR operations and data accuracy
  • You will work closely with HR Operations and other stakeholders to ensure consistent, compliant, and high-quality people support.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Around 8 – 10 years proven HR generalist experience, ideally within financial services but may include top professional services or Fin Tech firms if the experience looks after a small client group. (up to 100)
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and regulated environments
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders
  • A proactive, inquisitive mindset with a collaborative, solutions-focused approach
  • CIPD qualification (or equivalent experience) and solid Microsoft Office skills are highly desirable.

This role is 4 days in the office and 1 day working from home.

Office hours are 8am until 5pm and unfortunately there is little flexibility in this due to the nature of the firm’s business.

There is no visa sponsorship for this role.

Interviews will be in person in the City.

Examples of candidates I am looking for:

  • Senior HR Associate or Junior HR Business Partner in a Financial Services firm looking for their 2nd or 3rd role.
  • Established HR Business Parters from Financial Services who fancy a change.
  • HR BP’s from top Law firms or consultancies.

Examples of candidates who I am not considering:

  • Senior HR Business Partners from any industry (the role is designed to grow and develop over the years and they don't want to hire anyone they can't develop).
  • HR Professionals from Commerce and Industry, regardless of years’ experience.
  • HR Professionals who are more Relationship Managers rather than hands on.
  • People who are unhappy going into the office 4 days a week.
  • People who are unhappy working 8-5.

Unfortunately I will not be able to respond to people who don’t match the Job Description.
