Production Manager

New Today

Some production environments simply keep the lines running.
Others are constantly evolving - improving processes, investing in people and building a culture where teams genuinely care about the product leaving the factory every day.
This opportunity sits firmly in the second category.
I'm representing a growing food manufacturing business that plays an important role in supplying high-quality products into the UK food sector. Over the past few years, the site has continued to evolve - strengthening its leadership team, investing in its operations and building a culture focused on performance, collaboration and continuous improvement.
As the business continues to grow, they're now looking to bring in a Production Manager who enjoys being close to the operation, developing people and improving how things run on the factory floor.
This isn't a role where you'll be managing from behind a desk. It's for someone who enjoys being present in the factory, working with teams, solving problems in real time and driving standards that everyone can be proud of.
The Opportunity At the heart of this role is ownership.
You'll be responsible for a key production area that operates seven days a week, supporting the wider site operation and playing a vital role in overall performance.
Working closely with the Site Lead and wider leadership team, you'll lead shift-based teams, ensuring the operation consistently delivers on safety, quality, service and efficiency. But just as importantly, you'll have the space to look ahead - identifying opportunities to improve processes, develop people and strengthen performance across the department.
The business is looking for someone who sees production leadership as more than just hitting daily numbers. They want someone who understands that great operations are built through strong teams, clear standards and continuous improvement.
What the Role Involves As Production Manager, you'll take full ownership of the performance of your area, ensuring the operation runs safely, efficiently and delivers consistent quality. Your focus will include:
Leading the Operation * Taking overall responsibility for the performance of your production area. * Ensuring production targets, quality standards and service levels are consistently achieved. * Monitoring operational KPIs and driving improvements where needed. * Maintaining high standards across GMP, safety and compliance.
Developing and Leading People * Leading and supporting a team of shift leaders and operators. * Creating a positive, accountable culture where people take pride in their work. * Coaching and developing team members through regular feedback and performance conversations. * Ensuring teams are well trained, supported and equipped to meet operational demands.
Driving Continuous Improvement * Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity and yield. * Working closely with engineering and technical teams on process improvements. * Supporting well-thought-out investment opportunities in equipment or systems. * Using data and performance insight to guide improvements.
Creating a Strong Safety & Quality Culture * Championing a proactive safety culture across the department. * Ensuring processes and standards remain audit-ready at all times. * Reinforcing quality ownership across the entire team.
What They're Looking For This role would suit someone who enjoys being close to the action in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and takes real satisfaction in building strong teams.
You might currently be working as a: * Production Manager * Manufacturing Manager * Shift Manager * Senior Supervisor ready for the next step
Experience we're looking for: * Strong background within food manufacturing * Experience leading teams in high-volume production environments * A track record of improving operational performance * Understanding of manufacturing KPIs, labour efficiency and continuous improvement
The Kind of Person Who Thrives Here
The people who succeed in this business tend to be: * Hands-on leaders who enjoy spending time on the factory floor * Calm and pragmatic problem solvers * Naturally collaborative with other departments * Focused on developing their teams, not just managing them * Positive, resilient and action-oriented
Above all, they take pride in building an environment where people feel supported, standards are high and improvements are always being explored.
Why This Role? This is a great opportunity to join a business that is continuing to grow and invest in its operations.
You'll be joining a leadership team that values: * Strong teamwork * Operational excellence * Developing people from within
The role offers real ownership of an important part of the operation, along with the opportunity to shape how the department develops over time.
For the right person, it's a chance to step into a role where your leadership can genuinely influence performance, culture and future growth.
If you're a hands-on food manufacturing leader who enjoys building teams and improving operations, I'd be very happy to have a confidential conversation.
