Quantity Surveyor – Fixed Term Contract (Immediate Start)\n\nCentral Birmingham | £300–£400 per day\n£19m Commercial Scheme | Site-Based Role\n\nOverview\n\nA reputable regional contractor is seeking a site-based Quantity Surveyor to join an established project team delivering a £19m commercial scheme in central Birmingham. This is a fixed-term contract with an immediate start, working alongside an experienced site team and supported by a visiting Managing Quantity Surveyor.\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for a confident and hands-on QS who can take ownership of site-level commercial duties and ensure smooth delivery on a fast-moving project.\n\nThe Role\n\nAs the site-based Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day commercial management of the project, acting as a key commercial link between site operations and the wider commercial leadership.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Manage site-level commercial activities for a £19m scheme\n\n * Handle procurement, valuations, variations and cost reporting\n\n * Work closely with the Site Manager, Project Manager and supply chain\n\n * Maintain contract compliance and accurate change management\n\n * Support monthly CVRs and commercial forecasting\n\n * Ensure subcontractor accounts are managed efficiently and in line with contract terms\n\n * Report regularly to the visiting Managing Quantity Surveyor\n\n * Contribute to the delivery of the project within budget and commercial targets\n\nProject Profile\n\nThis position is based on a £19m commercial project involving:\n\n * Structural and internal refurbishment elements\n\n * New-build components within a constrained city-centre environment\n\n * Complex interfaces with existing structures and services\n\n * A well-established, experienced site team already in place\n\nThe contractor is known for delivering high-quality commercial and refurbishment schemes across the Midlands and wider region.\n\nAbout You\n\nYou will ideally have:\n\n * Strong experience as a Quantity Surveyor on commercial, refurbishment or mixed-use schemes\n\n * Background with a Tier 1, Tier 2 or established regional contractor\n\n * Confidence working independently on site with remote commercial oversight\n\n * Competence in managing procurement, variations, valuations and monthly reporting\n\n * A proactive, organised and commercially focused approach\n\n * Ability to start at short notice\n\nContract & Day Rate\n\n * Day Rate: £300–£400 per day (depending on experience)\n\n * Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract\n\n * Start Date: Immediate\n\n * Location: Central Birmingham (site-based)\n\nHow to Apply\n\nDue to high application volumes, if you do not receive a response within 48 hours, please assume your application has not been successful on this occasion
