SEN Teaching Assistant (Autism Specialist) – Shirley

Milk Education is recruiting caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join a fantastic autism-specific school in Shirley, providing 1:1 support to pupils on a long-term, permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with autism and additional learning needs, helping them thrive in a positive, structured, and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with autism, tailoring strategies to meet individual needs. * Support communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and daily routines. * Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to implement personalised learning plans and EHCP targets. * Promote positive behaviour and engagement, maintaining a calm and nurturing learning space.
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
* Experience supporting children or young people with autism or additional needs, ideally in a 1:1 capacity. * Excellent communication skills with a patient, empathetic, and caring approach. * Ability to work effectively under the guidance of teachers and SEN professionals. * A resilient, proactive, and understanding attitude, sensitive to the needs of pupils on the autism spectrum.
