Contract Type: Full-time Temporary Work Start Date: 18/03/2026 Location: Enfield, London, UK Salary: £100 – £120 per day Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates may be offered to candidates with relevant SEMH experience or behaviour support training. Pay is in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR).
About the Role
A specialist secondary provision in Enfield is seeking a confident and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 11–19 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role would particularly suit a strong and positive male role model who can build respectful relationships and provide calm, consistent support for students.
The school provides a structured, therapeutic environment where behaviour is understood as communication and strong relationships are central to student success. You will support pupils in developing emotional regulation, resilience and positive engagement with learning.
This is a proactive role requiring someone who can anticipate challenges, de-escalate situations early and help maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
• Building strong relationships that promote trust, respect and high expectations
• Supporting pupils during lessons, transitions and unstructured times
• Using de-escalation and behaviour management strategies to support pupils effectively
• Promoting emotional regulation, resilience and positive behaviour
• Supporting teachers and pastoral staff to maintain a safe and structured environment
• Recording incidents and contributing to behaviour support plans
Requirements
To be eligible for this role and the stated rate of pay, applicants must have:
• Experience working with young people, ideally within education, youth work or behaviour support
• Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
• The confidence to act as a positive role model for pupils
• The ability to build trusting, professional relationships with students
• A proactive and resilient approach
• The right to work in the UK
Desirable:
Experience working with pupils with SEMH or behavioural needs
Team Teach training or willingness to undertake training
Experience in a special school, alternative provision or specialist setting
