Thrive Education are recruiting for an enthusiastic Sports Coach with SEN experience to join a wonderful Special Needs schooll in Knowsley. This is a unique dual-role position that combines Teaching Assistant duties within the school’s SEN provision with delivering engaging sports and physical activity sessions for students who have a range of additional needs.\n\nThis is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about helping young people achieve their potential—both in the classroom and through sport—while building confidence, wellbeing, and social skills.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * \n\n Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN, in line with their EHCPs.\n\n * \n\n Plan and deliver inclusive sports and physical activity sessions adapted for pupils with autism, social, emotional, and other learning needs.\n\n * \n\n Foster teamwork, participation, and resilience through engaging physical activities.\n\n * \n\n Use positive behaviour management and de-escalation techniques when required.\n\n * \n\n Collaborate with the SENCO, teaching staff, and external professionals to maintain consistent, high-quality support.\n\n * \n\n Promote inclusion and pupil engagement, ensuring every child feels valued and supported.\n\nRequirements\n\n * \n\n Proven experience supporting children or young people with SEN\n Strong behaviour management and ability to tailor sessions to meet individual needs.\n\n * \n\n A patient, energetic, and creative approach to working with pupils.\n\n * \n\n De-escalation Training (desirable).\n\n * \n\n Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).\n\nWhat We Offer\n\n * \n\n An exciting opportunity to combine classroom support with sports coaching in a rewarding SEN setting.\n\n * \n\n Access to ongoing CPD and professional training through our agency.\n\n * \n\n A supportive and experienced SEN team within a welcoming school environment.\n\n * \n\n Competitive daily pay, paid weekly.\n\nThis position is ideal for a Sports Coach, PE graduate, or Teaching Assistant who wants to make a genuine difference in the lives of children with additional needs
