Freelance Quantity Surveyor\n\nProject: New Build Automotive Showroom\n\nLocation: Portsmouth, Hampshire\n\nContract Type: Freelance / Contract\n\nDuration: Approx. 9–12 months\n\nStart Date: Immediate / Negotiable\n\nDay Rate: Up to £350 per day (DOE)\n\nRole Overview\n\nAn experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor is required to provide commercial support on a new build automotive showroom project in Portsmouth. This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in a high-quality new build scheme, working closely with the project and site teams to ensure successful commercial delivery from procurement through to final account.\n\nThe role will suit a proactive and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor with strong experience in managing new build construction projects.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nManage commercial aspects of the project from procurement to final account\n\nPrepare and manage subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and appointments\n\nProduce cost reports, forecasts, and commercial updates\n\nManage variations and change control processes\n\nAssess subcontractor applications and prepare payment recommendations\n\nPrepare and submit interim valuations and final accounts\n\nMonitor project costs, budgets, and commercial risks\n\nMaintain accurate records and commercial documentation\n\nWork closely with the Project Manager and site team to support project delivery\n\nRequirements\n\nEssential:\n\nProven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on new build construction projects\n\nStrong understanding of JCT contracts\n\nExperience managing subcontractor packages\n\nStrong commercial awareness and cost management skills\n\nAbility to work independently on live construction projects\n\nAvailable to attend site in Portsmouth regularly\n\nDesirable:\n\nExperience delivering automotive showroom or commercial projects\n\nMain contractor experience\n\nRelevant degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction\n\nWhat’s on Offer\n\nDay rate up to £350 per day\n\nLong-term freelance contract (9–12 months)\n\nOpportunity to work on a high-quality new build automotive project\n\nImmediate start available\n\nPotential for ongoing freelance opportunities\n\nHow to Apply\n\nPlease submit your CV along with your day rate and availability.\n\nIf you'd like, I can also create:\n\nA LinkedIn version (short, punchy, high response rate)\n\nA CV-Library / Indeed optimised version\n\nOr a version targeted specifically at Senior Quantity Surveyors
